Well, they are not actually grenades and don’t think about war ammunition, they are small plastic pellets fitted inside a cylinder filled with pressurized green gas. They get fitted into the gun, and the gun can be fitted on any type of paintball gun, as an attachment.
You can find airsoft grenades at the same store that has sold you the gun itself, and they should not cost too much, maybe a couple of dollars each bag. You can refill the cylinders and use them as many as you want, so make sure not to throw them in the playing field. Keep around a couple of them for easy changing during play.
Now, there are several types of airsoft grenades that you can use, but only one type will probably fit in your gun, unless you have purchased a really expensive gun that can take several types. What I want to say is that you need to find the type of grenades that fit your airsoft grenade launcher.
As mentioned earlier these are not actual grenades, they are more like shotgun shells that split into several tiny pieces that hit a wider area. They are called airsoft grenades because the effect is similar, and unlike your paintball gun, they actually fire and can hit multiple targets at once. If you like, you can see this as a BB shower for your opponents that they will have trouble getting cover from.
As the popularity of this sport expands, I can see how this technology will evolve to create true hand grenades that can be used as toys. Remember though, these are not toys at all and you will need to careful around them, so make sure that your safety is one whenever you are not using the gun.
